Welcome

Hi, my name is Samantha and I am the face behind The Africa Travel Concierge. I live in Perth, Western Australia with my husband and three sons.

I am exuberant about sharing my love for my home country, South Africa with others and aspire to bring an authentic local encounter to every experience,

The Africa Travel Concierge (TATC) was born from my love for Southern Africa and my passion for travelling, its people, diverse culture, picturesque landscapes and incredible wildlife.

From the many conversations I have had over the years, the common thread is that an African Safari seems to be on everyone’s bucket list.

I grew up and have travelled extensively through Southern Africa since my early twenties. My goal is to provide you with a unique, worry-free exciting bucket list adventure using my local knowledge and contacts.

I am not just selling a holiday but a life-changing experience, with the hope you too, will fall in love with Southern Africa and return over and over again.

What sets TATC apart from a regular travel agency, is that as a concierge business, we are with you from start to finish.

I accompany you on your trip and am on hand to manage unforeseen occurrences, so you sit back and relax.

I would like to dispel the common myth that it is more expensive to book a holiday through a concierge or agent.

A good travel advisor will save you money in the long run. And we definitely can save you time. You’ve got someone who’s got your back before, during and after your trip.  The peace of mind and security we offer is priceless and it can be more expensive not to use a travel advisor.

Agents are also aware of all the special deals available at any point

in time, which can make a huge difference in keeping prices lower.

That is before we even consider the time spent researching and self-planning a safari. There are thousands of safari lodges across the African continent, all with pros & cons and varying prices. It would take a few weeks for the laymen to properly research, compare and plan a well-rounded safari. Only to realise that it’s the same price, or more expensive than the offer a travel expert could have put together in a few days.

Detailed research goes into the creation of each tour, and we strive to leave a positive impact on the destination and minimise any negative impact tourism may inadvertently cause.

Practising sustainable tourism is important to us at TATC, which is why we keep group numbers low and focus on providing a unique experience.

The focus of sustainable tourism is on opportunities that benefit the environment, local communities and wildlife.

It includes initiatives like nature conservation, wildlife protection and Community Based Tourism (CBT)

CBT allows our guests to experience the local culture, diversity and traditions of the local community providing a more authentic and educational experience.

There are numerous benefits derived from CBT:

  • sustains local culture for future generations

  • facilitates local employment

  • a direct financial benefit to communities

  • provides a unique experience for travellers

  • stimulates increased awareness and knowledge of other cultures

Some examples of the types of CBT experiences:

  • cooking and tasting local food

  • visiting a local market

  • walking through a cultural village

  • handcrafting or painting

Our Set Departure Safaris (SDS) are pre-planned, small group safaris that begin and end on specific dates. We can broadly refer to these as package deals because we give you a single price and an itinerary to accompany it.

The benefits of SDS include

  • lower overall price verse a tailored option

  • owner-operated camps where possible

  • expert local guides

  • optimal wildlife viewing, which is seasonal

  • walking tours and other hidden gems

I hope this has given you some "food for thought" and moves you towards that next step in planning your bucket list safari adventure.
